EDWARDS SOCIETY
1946
In January 1946, Culpeper was
approved as a site to build a
home for senior adults, and the
certificate of incorporation was
signed and filed with the Culpeper
clerkâs office on March 25 of
that year. Originally registered
as Virginia Baptist Home for
the Aged, Inc., the charter was
amended in 1954 to change the
name to Virginia Baptist Homes,
Inc. It was Dr. J.T. Edwards who first
introduced the idea of this home
for senior adults to the Baptist
General Association of Virginia.
Almost eighty years later, his vision
continues to thrive and expand.

The J.T. Edwards Society
was established in 1996
to honor those who
support the legacy of
Dr. Edwards through any
form of planned giving,
including bequests,
charitable gift annuities,
charitable remainder
trusts or gifts of life
insurance. These gifts
provide us with the
ability to plan for the
future success of this
ministry.
TODAY
J.T. Edwards Society
members extend a
lifetime of support
through gifts,
volunteer hours and
membership. Like
Dr. Edwards, these
visionary individuals
are leaving their own
legacy for future
residents of Virginia
Baptist Homes, and
we are proud to
honor them through
their membership in
this society.
