THE CULPEPER
A Night Under the Stars,
Hawaiian Style
In Hawaii, the “Aloha Spirit” is more than a
greeting. It’s also a cultural concept that refers
to a way of life rooted in mutual regard and
respect, extended with warmth to all people.
It’s no surprise, then, that The Culpeper
perfectly embodied that spirit during its
annual Night Under the Stars, where residents
and team members brought the islands to
Virginia with a Hawaiian-themed evening of
food, music, and community.
Residents and guests were welcomed with
leis and vibrant décor that transformed the
space into a tropical retreat. The evening
began with a dinner that transported diners
to Hawaii through a menu inspired by
traditional island flavors. Entrées included
opakapaka, a delicate red snapper prepared
with a macadamia crust, and slow-braised
kalua pork, a classic Hawaiian dish infused
with smoky richness. Side dishes paired
beautifully, from coconut lemongrass
jasmine rice to charred Maui onion and ‘ulu
(breadfruit). Dessert provided a sweet finale
with pineapple upside-down mochi cake and
a selection of bite-sized tropical treats.
Following dinner, the Silver Tones Swing
Band, sponsored by the VBH Foundation,
filled the night with lively music that set the
perfect tone for dancing and conversation.
The evening was a joyful reflection of the
aloha spirit, uniting residents and team
members in a shared celebration of warmth,
community, and connection.
